HISTORY OF BQB
B. Q. B. was established by third generation construction industry professional Michael Johnson. As a boy, Michael and his siblings were often required to accompany their father Herbert Johnson to work. The elder Johnson insisted that his boys learn the craft, whether they planned to choose a career in the industry or not. In those days, the demand for quality was much higher in the industry, and there was a lot of pride in the trade. The Johnson boys were molded into tradesmen during those summer months, and learned the importance of maintaining the highest standards while taking pride in their work.
The B. Q. B. brand took form in 1996 with a view to providing the kind of service and quality construction that was the norm during Herbert Johnson’s day. Its trademark is its commitment to excellence and attention to detail. Proprietor Michael Johnson learned the trade at a time when the subcontractor was non existent, and thus he was trained in all aspects of the industry from superstructure, to roofing, to interior walls, ceiling and mill work.
Like his father, Michael is passionate about mentorship, and has trained countless young men in the industry for years. This act has contributed to the formation of the company’s work force of skilled Bahamians who are able to facilitate very large projects. In addition to his practical training in construction, Mr. Johnson also brings a firm educational and managerial background to the table. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and also served as a management trainer prior to the formation of his company. All of these factors have contributed to the core of B. Q. B. – a solid construction background, good management, and empowerment.
